With the rise of obesity worldwide many are turning to extreme measures that promise help to fix this life threatening illness. Diet and exercise have not proven to help the epidemic. So what will work?
Any one that understands the food industry, particularly in the United States, understand that sugar is the culprit. Major food conglomerates represent low-fat and reduced calorie products, however these producers simply increase the amount of sugars in their products. These manufacturers lobby our Congress and First Lady, fund studies and continue their self-regulation that has proven disastrous for the public.
The movie Fed Up can best explain the issue of obesity and the role that sugar plays. Americans are eating 10X the amount of sugar than we did in 1980. We exercise more and have more low-fat options on store shelves but the problem is only getting worse.
Sugar not eaten from fruits, after it processes through our liver is unable to digest through our stomach because of the lack of fiber. Instead our liver converts the sugar directly in to fat cells, bypassing the stomach. This process can make you feel tired and since the sugar never travelled our stomach, it never alerted our brains that we even ate. This is why you may still feel hungry after consuming a super-sized value meal.
How can marijuana help us? Cannabinoids are helpful for a myriad of issues and while more research is needed just think of it this way; THC is stored in our fat cells and so is fat. This is the reason why you can still test positive for marijuana during a drug test and up to 60 days after you last inhaled.
[blockquote cite=”Journal of American Medicine” type=”left”]We found that marijuana use was associated with lower levels of fasting insulin and HOMA-IR, and smaller waist circumference… A relationship exists between cannabinoids and peripheral metabolic processes.

Most states that allow for the medical use of cannabis consider chronic pain as a qualifying condition. Can adults with chronic metabolic disease qualify for illegal marijuana or are they stuck with legal amounts of high fructose corn syrup to help them?
