Oakland County Cops Invest in Marijuana Facility

This article was originally published on the Marijuana Patients Organization site on May 28, 2011.

The Oakland county narcotics enforcement team has not been supportive of medical marijuana and denies any legality pertaining to the topic. They raided dispensaries in August of 2010 citing there is no room in our law for their existence and “robbed” them of both product and cash. The new stance should state, they are not allowed unless we have some upside in them.

Raids at the facilities were spurred on by narcotics enforcement team (NET) Commander Lt. Joe Quisinberry after reading about Clinical Relief, a dispensary in Ferndale that was not only given permission by the city but was also on the cover of the Detroit Free Press with the mayor and other leaders. Nothing was a foul with the dispensary less the fact that undercover NET officers with fake marijuana cards and drivers licenses purchased medical marijuana from the business.

This purchase led to a raid. And not just a simple one, a raid that resulted in the theft from homes of all 9 employees, incarceration, torment and an eventual heart attack and death of one of the individuals that the unlawful raid targeted. All for what? In released court documents by Oakland County Net Commander Lt. Joe Quisinberry, “the raid was conducted after reading about the dispensary in the Detroit Free Press.” Not from complaints or allegations of unlawful conduct.

Read this excerpt from January 2011 in the Lake Orion Review regarding Caregivers of America, a medical marijuana dispensary looking to expand in Goodrich, MI.

“We are a dispensary that will include growing facilities for marijuana, medical doctors, nurses and security,” said Robinson. “Right now we are opening a 50,000 square foot facility in Walled Lake. These facilities are open across Michigan. In other communities there has been a problem with the storefront of the building and a variety of ordinances.

Ken Quisenberry, former Ortonville Council President, owner of Capital Investigations Inc., and retired Oakland County Sheriff Department lieutenant, also attended Tuesday’s meeting.

“I have one interest only,” said Quisenberry, who will work security for Caregivers. “Compliance with the law. It (the law) is what it is. I’ve seen other communities that have kicked the (medical marijuana) can down the road—like Ortonville.”

Ken Quisinberry is the brother of NET Commander Lt Joe Quisinberry. Possibly if Clinical Relief had used the services of the Quisenberry brothers in a profit sharing scenario they would have avoided a raid and quite possibly a death. Tactics like this will hopefully be on the front page other than the misinformation and lies that the Oakland County Sheriffs office has been spitting. Disguisting actions by a corrupt organization.

Our advice to Ken, hide the Lake Orion Review article from your brother if you want to protect your investment and freedom.
