Our Attorney General, Bill Schuette, the person who is charged with protecting the rights of medical marijuana patients, has done the exact opposite. His opposition to the law was known prior to the passage of the act in 2008 and was the proverbial soap box that Schuette used to get elected as our Attorney General. Bill Schuette has one clear agenda, to reverse this act and kill the law. He has touted this at cocktail parties and truly believes the death of the act will catapault him into the governors office or some other important role.
The AG’s most recent editorial in the Detroit Free Press was an attempt to show his real concern for our communities and wants us to believe he has patients interests before his own. Guess what Bill, us patients, caregivers, dispensary owners, doctors and voters want to respect our communities while allowing access to the sick. This is why it is the LAW, we voted for it. Issues with zoning are working themselves out by our communities, the legislature is talking with players in the industry and less your editorial or the occasional unlawful raid conducted by agenda driven law enforcement, medical marijuana has not been an issue and neon green is not on Main Street.
Our Governor, Rick Snyder, whom I voted for and believe despite critics, is doing a good job sticking to his campaign promise of fixing the economy. Equally as committed to acheiving campaign promises is our AG Bill Schuette, doing everything in his power to destroy the law as promised during his campaign. His actions have all been under the name of destruction and not valid concerns that any rational person would have as it relates to this new industry. I can attest to the amount of man hours, resources and money that Bill has exhausted for the State making Rick Snyder’s job that much more difficult.
It is a costly battle that the Attorney General has waged on Michigan citizens and the voters. This is a battle he cannot win and will only result in more crimes that go unnoticed under the AG’s watch. Banking fraud, health care abuses, white collar crimes, prison issues, you know, real crime will unfortunately make headlines while Bill continues his path of destruction against patients.
His road to the Governor’s office may be a reality. Here, his biggest critic is once again putting his name in front of the masses. Bill Schuette does not care about medical marijuana, you, me or any one or thing, after all he is an Attorney General that has been a career politician since law school.
Next election remember to KILL BILL and not a law that so many in Michigan truly need.
