We have recently heard from a political insider in Lansing that the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA), the agency that administers the Michigan Medical Marihuana Program will now send letters to patients verifying or denying the patients eligibility into the program. We were told that letters would be sent within a few weeks of registering/mailing paperwork to the State.
It is unclear if this decision is in response to the State’s 6 month delay in mailing patient cards or used as a stop gap to eventually replace the inefficient and laughable “card system”. Clearly inefficiencies in the process should be addressed and we certainly hope this recent development is a sign of positive changes for patients and the Michigan Medical Marihuana Program.
