National Association of Attorneys General supports medical marijuana

This article was originally published on the Marijuana Patients Organization site on January 12, 2014.

On June 25, 1983, the National Association of Attorneys General passed a resolution supporting legislative efforts to make marijuana available on a prescription basis to patients undergoing chemotherapy or suffering from glaucoma.

Many believe that law enforcement is opposed to medical marijuana, and while this may be true in some instances, the majority of State and Federal Attorney’s Generals (the Top Cops) have supported access of marijuana to sick patients.

For 30 years State’s AG’s have supported medical legalization and more recently this summer, US Attorney General Eric Holder set policy that the US Government would not interfere with State medical marijuana laws. Mr. Holder’s directives represented the biggest shift against the prohibition of marijuana, action led by an Attorney General.

Leadership within law enforcement supports medical marijuana legalization and have resolved to do so, so the question remains, “who is still against us?”

  1. Big Pharma, and those invested in pharmaceuticals are against it. Of course there is a patent on the therapeutic effects of cannabis….you know who owns it.

  2. Having suffered 3-annurisms, 24pt transfusion 6-hour operation 10 day coma left for 3wks in ICU with organs exposed under a wound vac and then sewn up with pigskin mesh of 210 inside stiches and 28 staples outside has left me with chronic pain and discomfort. Not to mention a bed sore that ate my backbone flesh away to less tha centameter from my backbone and released from hospital 5wks later from this 1st occurance with no assitance at home because of loss of insurance has become a struggle to overcome and have any confidence whatsoever in our AMA system. The MM has helped me and with good music input and no other pharma drug use other than a few Aleve, its difficult to live without it. Sometimes, I wish I’d nerver have survived to put up with this hypocritical $$$ hungry greedy system of ours. Please, as I formerly would remind small business owners in the past as a representative of the Ferderal Chamber of Commerce, “DON’T FORGET TO VOTE.” It works well in my coffee as well. Shalom
