If we ask President Barack Obama what the federal government’s response to marijuana is, he answers us on his web site, “In enacting the Controlled Substances Act (CSA), Congress determined that marijuana is a Schedule I controlled substance. As with state medical marijuana laws, it is important to note that Congress has determined that marijuana is a dangerous drug and that the illegal distribution and sale of marijuana is a serious crime.
We can fault Congress for inaction in addressing medical marijuana on a Federal level according to Obama. This stance would assume that the majority of US Congress men and women oppose medical marijuana, does this reflect their constituents attitudes?

If a few more states, or just one of the following states passes medical marijuana legislation, medical marijuana will become the norm and not the exception, and we should expect congressional action, assuming that America is in fact a representative democracy.

- Ohio

Truely, MMJ legalization should have been federally enacted long ago. Any legislatures against it at this point in time, has evil intentions.

The negative stigma of pot use has certainly made it difficult for researchers to be taken seriously, and since using the drug is still illegal in most states, many people simply never even know they could be healing themselves by using a common plant. The way the media portrays cannabis in commercials fill kids heads with stupid ideas and projects upon us all the stereo types of goofy lazy stupid stoners to discredit those quiet people who use this plant. As a consequence of lies and deception instead of facts and truth, this inevitably backfires when people learn the truth… Those who have something to gain from continued prohibition have continued to run a well organized propaganda campaign that has inevitably made cannabis use and support of industrial hemp associated with a “pothead” culture. These are just the preconceived notions we’ve been brought up in though. A world where instead of drinking cheap beer, a hopeful political candidate can roll a joint to seem like the “people’s choice” doesn’t have to seem crazy. This scenario would actually be the healthier choice.
We are fighting hard in NY, specifically to save children with intractable epilepsy. We need a strain, Charlotte’s Web, which is an OIL made from a low TCH and high CBD hybrid plant. No street value, no addiction and can replace deadly pharmaceuticals. Our kids are terminal due to the deadly seizures (intractable meaning seizure meds don’t work and most are on awful meds to keep them alive), or the harmful drugs they must take. My niece gets 16 rounds of these deadly meds a day (NOT tested on her small body over years) and this oil is proving to replace all these. The 300+ families that have relocated to Colorado to save their kids’ lives are seeing 85% plus seizure reduction. See the Sanjay Gupta special on CNN titled “WEED”. Little Charolotte, whom the plant is named after, is 99.9% seizure free two years after that special was made! We can’t get it! It’s a travesty. Please contact Governor Cuomo and the NY Senate and tell them you support The Compassionate Care Act! http://www.governor.ny.gov/contact/GovernorContactForm.php

I need help legalizing medical marijuana in Wisconsin. I have Parkinson’s disease and it truly helps me manage my pain and shaking. I am a retired law enforcement officer. http://richardsecklin.weebly.com/
Wish I lived in this State. Waiting to see what Wisconsin does.
If it helps someone with medical issues use it…Can not be as bad as using pain meds…in my younger days I smoked pot and enjoyed it.. Quit on my own, did not hurt me and I was not violent toward anyone,it’s a mind thing…people make their own choices..good or bad.. This is good for seizures, people can have a chance of a little normal in their lives..LET THEM HAVE IT..
