The meaning of Boxing Day

When you understand the true nature of giving, and the reason for the season, you begin to serve others more.

This article just happens to be penned on Boxing Day, a holiday observed by the British and Canadians. Boxing day is celebrated the day after Christmas, and tradition holds that people would give to the poor gifts, often cash wrapped in the boxes from yesterday’s presents.

In the cannabis reform movement  there are many ‘boxers’ but today I think of one activist, Jamie Fricke. Jamie spent her Christmas eve and day delivering kids packages, toys and cash, to the parents of legal marijuana users or providers wrongly caught up by zealous prosecutions. These court cases are not cheap. Jamie’s organization, The Thin Green Line supports families that are victims of the Drug War, the longest running war on American soil.
