Baby boomer gives medical cannabis a shot

I have been house-bound for several years with a combination of conditions. Chronic pain. Fatigue. Poor sleep. I had tried every possible Western and Alternative treatments, but not the crazy-weirdo therapies. I was getting close to retirement age and not looking forward to a life spent indoors. My husband and I moved to San Diego and I delayed giving medical cannabis a try because I didn’t think it would work and I was afraid of not being able to handle the “ultra-high” highs that were being reported in the media. I’m a Child of the 60s so, of course I was familiar with pot, but I didn’t know anything about how it worked medicinally. I thought the cures relied on cannabis plus a special diet and I wasn’t going to start eating a macro diet or vegan. So I was actually pretty reluctant to try. Then I discovered two things: 1)there are more various types of ways to “take” marijuana than anyone could imagine (from the outside) and 2)no one had any specific information about how to use it medicinally. I spent the first week getting too stoned on candies, but I expected that. Then I decided to find out if there were any scientific studies that could tell me what doses worked for certain conditions … and that information blew me away. I now eat about 30mg of Indica-heavy cannabis oil daily and additional CBD. I am able to get out and around again. My head and thinking is clear again. The relief from Pain! is so much better! I am able to use 50mg less of morphine a day. I wasn’t trying to use less; I just kept forgetting to take it. Before taking cannabis, my thyroid was out of whack and I needed thyroid pills. But I wouldn’t take them. Now my most recent lab test shows perfect levels of thyroid. My doctor asked if it was the pills, but I hadn’t been taking the pills. But I did start taking cannabis regularly. I’ve also lost 20 pounds. I wasn’t trying to diet, but the pounds just melted away. I’m still checking to see if I’m losing weight due to a problem in my body, but I feel really good. I don’t feel sick. And I don’t have to get stoned to be able to enjoy this better health. I think cannabis is magic. I was fully prepared to find that the effects were minimal or psychosomatic, but I’m an engineer … and this is the real deal.
