MI House Passes Medical Marijuana Bills

It was no surprise that medical marijuana regulations would come to fruition. Our “perfect” law currently affords us patients the most rights. It is not like our law is a “helmet law” that affords bikers the chance to ride free of a helmet and avoid the horrors of a civil infraction. This medical marijuana law allows the sick, legal protection from law enforcement and protects their property and medical information. It is not just escaping a ticket for us, literally, our law does one thing, protects us from jail time, that’s it.

Why do our legislators feel the need to turn back the clocks on a law that works perfectly fine? After all what has been the net effect of this marijuana law since passage in 2008, who has been harmed? Michigan State Police Prioritize Helmet Law Over Medical Marijuana

If you were a police officer you would receive updates and newsletters on a daily if not weekly basis about Michigan’s laws and changes to them. In addition you would sit through training regarding changes to Michigan law. If you were a cop after Governor Snyder signed into law Michigan’s Motorcycle Helmet Use law in April 2012 you received a newsletter in the Michigan State Police Update, training from superiors and enough memos that would leave no doubt regarding the nuances of the new law. Rep. Callton Discusses His Dispensary Bill

This evening we were invited by the Birmingham Compassion Club to listen to State Rep. Mike Callton (R) discuss his latest bill presented to the House, HB5580, otherwise referred to as the dispensary bill. The audience was filled with many interesting and legitimate questions and concerns, the brave politician volleyed back all the right answers. It appeared as if he truly cares about us patients and understands the challenges we face.
