This month starts the trial of the Clinical Relief medical marijuana dispensary in Oakland County Michigan. 7 defendants stand trial for a 2010 case in which prosecutors assert the clinic operated illegally. Despite the fact that Clinical Relief had full approval from Ferndale city officials, the mayor, police chief Collins and Oakland County executive Brooks Patterson, the case is still being pursued, five years later.
In 2011, all charges were dropped by the Honorable Daniel O’Brien, however prosecutors appealed their case to a sympathetic Michigan Court of Appeals.
The only defendant dismissed from prosecution was the daughter of Mickey Lolich, and immediately after prosecutors found out about her famous father. Another clinic employee, the spouse of an Oakland county deputy was never charged.
While he may not be in the Major League Hall of Fame, Mickey Lolich is well known throughout Michigan for his MVP performance during the 1968 World Series. Many sports analyst point to the likelihood of his place in Cooperstown, some day.
When Sheriff Mike Bouchard and Oakland County prosecutor Jessica Cooper completed their vicious raids on the Clinical Relief dispensary in Ferndale, MI they followed up with press conferences, suggesting possible connections to Mexican cartels and other misleading and false statements.
No mention of Mickey Lolich, Officer Doty or Brooks Patterson were made before the media.
