Marijuana activist grows cannabis then calls police to arrest him

In the world of marijuana activism there are supporters and then there are soldiers. Many would classify Robert Dorr as a soldier.

Robert, a North Carolina resident who treats his medical conditions with marijuana within a state where marijuana is illegal for both medical and recreational purposes intended to start a battle against State law. Mr Dorr was recently arrested for growing several cannabis plants on his property, and the informant, Mr Dorr himself.

In an act of civil disobedience Robert called the county prosecutor and sheriff to notify them of his own ‘illegal activities’. He was arrested shortly after.

“I am a straight up medical user who grew my own and never once sold anything. I have forced my own arrest for growing and am fighting the peoples case in the courts and we will win” said Mr Dorr in a recent email to the MPO.

What do you think, is Robert Dorr’s civil disobedience similar to that of North Carolina sit-ins during the 1960’s? Would you risk your freedom for a plant?

  1. It certainly was a very unselfish act on his part in order to take a stand for all those suffering in our state and many others who would like to treat their disabilities with marijuana instead for the normal ” hand full of pills” with the terrible side effects. Wishing more people would stand up like this for their rights.

  2. I think we should see a lot of similarities to the sit-ins. It’s still the almost deep south here and rights wise our track record hes required civil disobedience. Thank you for sharing our story here in NC.
