Medical marijuana loses it’s biggest advocate

The majority of state-level campaigns to legalize medical and some-times recreational marijuana, were almost always funded in whole or part by billionaire Peter Lewis, the founder of Progressive Insurance. This weekend Mr. Lewis passed away at the age of 80.

Mr. Lewis first started using marijuana when he was 39 years old. And used it medically at 64, after undergoing a partial amputation.

His $40,000,000 in contributions and political strategies have been the catalyst for marijuana reform in this country, and allowed over 125,000,000 individuals to choose marijuana as a medical option without fear of arrest.

Will the ball keep rolling without Mr. Lewis’ financial backing and leadership and will I continue to purchase my insurance through Progressive as a matter of principle not economics?

  1. He was a great man and will walk forever with God. Many cannabis patients should say a prayer tonight and thank Mr. Lewis for his contributions.

  2. Definitely switching to Progressive insurance for everything. Great man and yet it is unstoppable now what he started.
