No smoking in public, eating food ok

In my home state of Michigan our medical marihuana law allows for the medical use of marijuana. However the law states patients are not permitted to smoke in public but can possess marihuana and use food or non-smokeable products in public. Likely to ensure that others are not offended or come in contact with the intoxicating aromas.

333.26427 Scope of act; limitations. (3) Smoke marihuana: (A) on any form of public transportation; or (B) in any public place.

The law clarifies even further by restricting possession or medical use (smoking, drinking, eating, buying, selling) any form of marijuana in a school bus; on the grounds of any preschool or primary or secondary school; or in any correctional facility.

At current there is Senate Bill 783 which attempts to clarify the clear language in our medical act to restrict any use of marijuana in public. This would restrict non threatening and smell free forms of cannabis like eating marijuana infused food products.

Remember when you are in Michigan and in public, it’s not ok to smoke up, but eat all you want.
