Americans For Safe Access, the Nationwide group touted as the top medical marijuana patients advocacy organization, had petitioned the United States Supreme Court for the re-classification of marijuana to a Schedule II drug. Today a DC Circuit Court dismissed their claim.
The Drug Enforcement Agency’s (DEA) classification of marijuana describes marijuana as having zero medical value and in their professional opinion, more harmful than cocaine. Let me repeat that, “Marijuana is worse than cocaine, aka crack.”
The Supreme Court’s earlier decision to agree with the DEA and their assessment of marijuana is, for the moment, upheld. Do you think that the Supreme Court (a bunch of smart people) and the DEA (also educated) really believe that marijuana is worse than crack? Or do you think that rescheduling marijuana is neither good for the Court or the drug enforcement business?
“The DEA, the appeals court said, interprets “adequate and well-controlled studies” to be more “scientifically rigorous” than peer-reviewed, published studies”.
It is impossible to get any better studies than peer-reviewed studies. These are the experts in the WORLD critiquing other EXPERTS in the world on one another’s studies.
“The “petitioners may have cited some peer–reviewed articles in support of their position, but they have not pointed to ‘adequate and well-controlled studies’ confirming the efficacy of marijuana for medicinal uses, Edwards wrote in the court ruling”.
The studies that show how “dangerous and harmful” marijuana is, are no more rigorous than the research that shows it has medicinal value.
So who funds the research that shows marijuana is harmful? The NIH, a government entity.
Who funds research that shows marijuana has medical value? The US Government only approves studies that report the dangers of the drug. There are no studies examining the medical efficacy of marijuana.
What a sad day for Justice, for Democracy, for America. This is more than a drug war, rather an insight on how our country operates (from the bench).
I’m disappointed and then again not! God made the plant to help people and the government just like taking God We Trust off money. Then stand there and ask God for help how funny. That’s why them old senators and Rep. Can’t get along!! What a bunch of back stabbers. I agree some people are just plain lying about the conditions, but if you have a really Dr. say it will help you who is the government to take that right away.
When are people going to give up on this! My husband has been using medical marijuana for pain and not needed precription drugs at all! No side effects either! A drug is man made pot is not ! Cocaine is man made! It makes me so mad when people go on and on about this! People are better off using pot than drugs because of the side effects! People are ignorant about pot! I don’t smoke but I understand the benifits for people who need it!
This is one of the most corrupt courts in the history of this nation. Tar and Feathers would be too good for the likes of them. I suggest using the gallows.
I have uncontrolled epilepsy and brain tumors, the only thing that has helped control my epilepsy is medical marijuana. People either don’t want to understand or just don’t care to try. If only people would research the benefits of medical marijuana and the benefits of the entire plant maybe they mind change their minds.
I actually do not smoke marijuana; I use edibles and only chose to use it as the very last option. I had to get to the point where I was desperate to decide to use this form of treatment. I do not even use it like I am advised to because I actually do NOT like getting “high.” Believe it or not, not all forms of this therapy make a person “high.”
Look at the panel, a bunch of old corrupt ignorant judges. They must be stuck in BIG PHARMA’S pocket, They are so old they cant even learn anymore, seems like a bunch of tyrannic freemasons to me. They do not hold the best interest of mankind in their hands, but rather their own ill intent. When men make nature illegal, mankind has lost it’s way. WHY must we remain so barbaric as a species.
Wow did someone pay them i have seen and known a few crack heads and smokers and i would never compare the two lol. These people are not educated enough obviously to the know the effects and really think too much of our money has been wasted to try and make it a “drug”
