The Michigan House plans a hearing Thursday on proposals that supporters say would clarify the state’s voter-approved law allowing the use of marijuana for medical purposes.
On or about February 15, 2012, the Michigan Medical Marihuana Registry Program will be sending out “NOTICE OF APPROVAL” letters to qualifying patients who have submitted a valid original or renewal application prior to December 31, 2011 and have not yet received their Medical Marihuana Registry cards. If the qualifying patient has designated a primary caregiver, they will also be receiving a “NOTICE OF APPROVAL” letter. This letter provides notice that the patient or caregiver registry card has been approved.
The Voters of the state of Michigan by an overwhelming majority of 63% approved the medical use of Marihuana. The medical marihuana community has yet to see the government implement the law as it was intended. The cards remain 7 months behind, there have been no new conditions added to the registry and the privacy of the patient registry is still being debated.
