Is Hashish Dangerous?

This article was originally published on the Marijuana Patients Organization site on June 25, 2013.

Much debate exists around the resins of marijuana, also known as hashish (hash), and whether the use of hash should be promoted, limited or restricted.

As we explained in other articles or as you can learn on the internet, hashish is the resins of marijuana, a highly concentrated dosage of the active ingredients of marijuana leaves and flowers and has been known to reduce cancer cells.

After some more reading and inquiries to opponents we heard the following statements, citing the negative aspects of this form of marijuana. What do you think?

  • Due to the higher resin and active substance the result of the inhaled absorption of hashish causes an intoxication approximately 5 to 7-times more stronger in relation to marijuana.
  • A characteristic for the hashish intoxication is determined by the lowering of the stimulus of the central sympathetic nervous system, by a temporary increase of the pulse as well as a lowering of the temperature of the body which lasts for 24 hours.
  • Hashish produces, as other drugs, a ‘flash back’, a so-called echo intoxication, that can occur a few days after the consumption of the drug.
  • In the psychic sense, hashish causes an intoxication which stops completely after 2-3 or even 4 hours. In this case a loss of the sense of time appears in the sense of a considerable reduction of the speed of the subjective lapse of time, this in contrast to the effects of alcohol.
  • A higher dosage of hashish can lead to hallucinations which are mostly pseudohallucinatory.
  • At a higher dosage the intoxication with hashish makes everything imaginary immediately become visually perceptible while everything senses – detached by the semiskilled patterns of perception and its interpretation – at the same time reduces the inhibitions and is increased in intensity.

  1. I was thinking the same thing. How can a substance that is essentially non-toxic be called ‘intoxicating’? “Opponents” seem to still be ignorant of the mountain of modern research concerning cannabis.

  2. This website is a joke. Really where do you people get your information? “Hashish produces, as other drugs, a ‘flash back’, a so-called echo intoxication, that can occur a few days after the consumption of the drug” Really this is garbage.
